v15.2 [Sep 1, 2016]
- Adaptive Refinement with Sculpt: Sculpt now includes adaptive refinement to capture small features and curvature in geometry. A local 2-refinement procedure is used to generate smaller elements near geometric details while maintaining a larger element size in other areas of the model.
- Sculpt Scalability Improvements: Sculpt gained the ability to efficiently handle 10s or 100s of material blocks. This is particularly helpful for meshing microstructure models where individual grains are represented as independent materials.
- Selective Hexahedral Mesh Scaling: Mesh Scaling now supports selective scaling of specific volumes within a model. Any connected volumes will also be included in the mesh scaling.
- Improved Block/Sideset/Nodeset Support in Hexahedral Mesh Scaling: Support for Blocks, Sidesets, and Nodesets has been enhanced in this release. In addition to respecting Blocks, Sidesets and Nodesets defined on geometry, Mesh Scaling will now respect those defined on specific mesh elements. For instance, if a Sideset covers part of a geometric surface, it will now be respected.
- Volume Metric with Extended Command Line Entity Specification: The volume of a Volume may now be used with extended command line entity specification to select volumes in a command. This is similar to existing capability to select curves based on length, or surfaces based on area.
- Software Development Kit (SDK): Cubit now offers an SDK for 3rd party developers. Cubit functionality may be extended using interfaces from the SDK.
